1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. onion powder
1 tbsp. chili paste
2 tbsps. anisado wine
1 cup cornstarch
750 grams suaje (each about 1 1/2 inches long), feelers and other sharp parts removed
salt and pepper to taste

FOR THE SAUCE:
1/2 cup sugar
2 tbsps. butter
1/2 tsp. water
1 tbsp. patis
1 1/2 tsps. tamarind mix
